Recently the University of Bradford has opened its first Regional Office in Dubai Knowledge Village to offer admission support to students interested in studying for a Bradford degree in the UK. Kuwaiti students can now apply for Bradford courses directly through the University’s Regional Office in Dubai.

Entry Requirements 

The University of Bradford is pleased to welcome applicants from Kuwait. When you apply we will consider your educational qualifications, your English level and, in some cases, your relevant work experience. Entry requirements will vary according to the course you are applying for but we hope the following information will be useful as a guide to our entry requirements.

Bachelor's/Undergraduate Study  

 

al Shahâda al-Thânawiyya al-cÄmma

Bradford welcomes students who have completed their Thânawiyya (Grade XII Certificate) to apply for Bradford’s International Foundation Year prior to starting the first year of an undergraduate degree. To join the International Foundation Year you should have obtained an overall average of at least 70% in your Thânawiyya. Additionally, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL 72 IBT, 200 CBT or 520 PBT is required. How to apply  

International Foundation Year Programme

The International Foundation Year is a pre-degree programme designed specifically for international students who have finished high school but do not have the necessary academic or English qualifications to start an undergraduate degree at the University of Bradford.

It is structured to meet the individual needs of international students and will be tailored to enhance your existing academic and English qualifications. With guidance from the course tutor, you will be able to choose modules that interest you and will help you prepare for your undergraduate degree, constructing a learning programme that is both challenging and stimulation. Upon successful completion of the International Foundation Year, you can progress directly onto Year One of a range of degree programmes. Please note progression to Business and Management programmes is subject to receiving 60% or above in the International Foundation Year.

A-Level and International Baccalaureate

Bradford also welcomes A-Level and IB students from International Schools for direct entry to the first year of an undergraduate degree. Please note direct entry onto Year 1 of an undergraduate degree is subject to meeting course specific entry requirements. If you do not quite achieve the level required for direct entry to the first year of your chosen course, it may be possible for us to offer you a place on our International Foundation Year Programme. How to Apply

Other Academic Qualifications

If you currently hold an academic qualification, which is not listed on this page, please contact us and we’ll be happy to assess your educational background and let you know necessary requirements to join the University of Bradford based on your existing qualifications.

Master's/Postgraduate Study 

Bradford welcomes applications for taught Master's degrees from students who have completed a Bachelor degree from a recognised university in Kuwait. You will also need to provide proof of your English proficiency. The preferred qualifications are IELTS with a minimum score of 6 and TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 for paper-based, 220 for the computer based and 80 for the internet based. How to apply

*Students wishing to apply for any postgraduate courses in the School of Management (MSc, MBA) should have IELTS of 6.5 or TOEFL of 580 – paper-based, 240 - computer-based, 94 - internet-based.

Please note, unfortunately, HND cannot be accepted for entry to Master's degrees.

MBA

Students can study for Bradford’s renowned MBA in Bradford or Dubai. Prospective MBA students will need to demonstrate that they have had at least 3 years of post graduation managerial work experience. On average successful applicants have between five to six years of relevant work experience. Research 

Students with more advanced qualifications and a well-thought out research proposal can be considered for MPhil / PhD. A research proposal is usually an outline of approximately 1,500-2,000 words, setting out the precise nature of the issue you wish to investigate. This should include a justification for your research, why the topic requires a closer look, and how it will make an original contribution to knowledge. You should describe the groundwork you have already done, and be able to show that you are familiar with the existing literature in the field, and how your work will relate to that. Finally, you should outline your proposed methodology, and indicate what materials or data you will need access to. You should also indicate how you intend to fund your studies. How to apply

English Language Requirements 

If your first language is not English, you will need to provide proof of your English proficiency before you can be admitted onto any of our undergraduate or postgraduate courses. We accept the following qualifications which are available internationally: 

  • IELTS (The International English Language Testing System). This is administered by the British Council and is the preferred English language test by the University. You will need to achieve an Overall Band score of at least 6.0*, with at least 5.0 in each of the four sub-tests (speaking, listening, reading, writing). Testing facilities are available at most British Council overseas offices. When you take your test, you should ask for a copy of your Test Report Form to be sent to the University.
  • TOEFL (The Test of English as a Foreign Language). This is administered by the Educational Testing Service in the USA. You will need to score at 220 on the computer-based test or 80 on the internet-based test. If you take this test, you should enter the University’s code 0828 on your answer sheet.

The IELTS and TOEFL tests are the most common, but there are other English language qualifications which may be accepted. For example, the University of Bradford also recognizes:  

  • Cambridge Advanced Certificate - grade C or above
  • Cambridge Proficiency Certificate - grade C or above
  • GCE/GCSE English language - grade C or above

*Students wishing to apply for any postgraduate courses in the School of Management (MSc, MBA) should have a minimum of IELTS 6.5; TOEFL 240 (computer-based) or TOEFL 95 (internet-based).

English Language Support 

If you need help with your English or want to build your confidence before starting your main degree programme, you can study at Bradford in the summer for 6 or 10 weeks or even attend a full IELTS preparation programme. Please visit our Language Centre  for further details.

Additionally, Bradford offers free English classes for all overseas students throughout each year of study. You can take an assessment on arrival at the university which places you in a suitable class level. There are academic support classes as well as English classes available.
